In the beginning, the stocks of the company rose in price, but it was only a temporary phenomenon. A year later, because of its prohibition by the king, the shares began to fall in price. John Law was unable to raise the stock price any more, and they were worthless. Such a pyramid scheme has brought a great loss the country. Another of the famous pyramid schemes, Ponzi scheme was started in America by Charles Ponzi.
